DJ Steve Jamieson of the “Phunkin DJ’s” has been a Professional DJ for over 15
years., and has over a decade worth of experience playing in the Commercial
Sector.
He started his career back in 1992, whilst studying for a BTEC in Art & Design,
he worked as a Lighting Technician for a Local Nightclub in his home County of
Lancashire. It was at this time that he was inspired to become a DJ after
spending many late nights operating the lights for extra money to fund his
education.
It wasn’t until the 1995 that things began to happen for Steve as a DJ, after
spending many years perfecting his skills as a DJ. Two years later passed then
he had the good fortune of spending his first season abroad working as a DJ in
Kavos (Greece). This is where his skills would be put to the test working 7
nights a week for a solid 6 months period. After he accomplished the first
season, he then returned for a further two years in the summers of 1999 and
2002.
In 2002, Steve reached a crucial point in his career, and left the club scene to
redevelop himself. He took a year out, and returned to the scene playing in
bars in the late part of 2003, before returning to the clubs in 2004.
Steve has remained true to his training as a Commercial DJ, and can still be
seen playing every weekend. Through his hard work and dedication, he has had the
opportunity of working for many large Nightclub operators throughout the UK.
He recently teamed
up with an old colleague, and through their determination and passion for music,
they have had the good fortune of co-producing their first single and re-cover
with Pamela Fernandez of the house classic “Kicking In The Beat.“ Steve and his
colleague currently have two further releases with Pamela Fernandez planned for
later next year.
Steve is now working towards gaining recognition as a producer, along with his
colleague Richard Barker, as one half of the “Phunkin DJ’s”. Steve is currently
looking forward to the next phase of his career and reaping the benefits.
